Firm Overview

Many attorneys simply advertise as being “DWI Attorneys”, along with numerous other practice areas. My practice is concentrated around DWI Defense*. I do not do “a little of everything” as many law firms do.  I am a solo practitioner who provides very personalized service to clients charged with DWI. As I stated in my introduction page, DWI is a complex area of the law that requires the knowledge and experience of a skilled attorney to defend this offense. DWI crosses over many areas of the law; traditionally each DWI offense consists of Constitutional issues, New Jersey Statutes, New Jersey case law, as well as scientific and technical issues involving how breath samples are obtained. Knowledge of every one of these areas of law as they pertain to a DWI charge is a requirement, not an option. I assure you that after an initial consultation with me regarding your DWI charge, you will feel comfortable with my knowledge and experience in this area of the law.

My firm was developed around a very important concept: communication. I do not have numerous legal assistants, paralegals, or other attorneys. Every discussion about your case is directly with me. I am always available for my clients, and will answer questions at anytime. As I have mentioned before, a DWI charge carries serious fines and penalties, along with even potential jail time. My goal is for you to feel confident that your matter is being handled appropriately. I feel that being available for my clients at anytime increases your confidence in me, which is crucial to a successful attorney-client relationship.

Another important factor regarding communication is having the ability to listen. I always listen carefully to each and every client matter, whether big or small. I am always privy to every minor detail of a client’s DWI matter, before recommending an appropriate legal strategy. Without full knowledge of the facts around a matter, it is impossible to provide effective legal service in this area of the law. All too often does one small fact turn into the heart of the matter. As the old proverbial saying goes: “The beauty is in the details;” this is a bedrock principle for all matters that are referred to The Law Office of Jonathan McMeen. Esq.

Lastly, I would like to break the “fear barrier” that many individuals have when they have a need for legal counsel. Many times this fear is based on misconceptions. A few examples of misconceptions are as follows: that a person feels that they can just simply handle the matter themselves without an attorney; that hiring an attorney only complicates the matter; or simply  they feel that attorneys only represent the most “affluent” as depicted on various television shows. It is important not to let these misconceptions prevent you from seeing an attorney. DWI law can be very complicated. Jonathan McMeen, Esq. can help you navigate it without these fears.

Jonathan McMeen, Esq. abides by three foundational principles:

1.     Honesty: I provide you an honest opinion about your case. I will provide you a true analysis of your matter based on my analysis of the facts as applied to the law. I will not simply tell you what you want to hear; I will tell you what is correct.

2.     Personalized Service: I listen to my clients and develop an appropriate legal strategy to handle each individual client’s DWI charge. I communicate with my clients. I return calls; I am almost always available at any time of any day. My clients are always informed of the progress of their matter.

3.     Aggressive Legal Representation: I do not simply take the simplest route for any DWI charge. I zealously advocate within the confines of the law in an attempt to obtain the best outcome.

*I do indeed handle matters involving other traffic offenses and criminal matters, as I feel knowledge in these areas is complimentary to DWI defense. (DWI charges sometimes are accompanied by criminal charges and other traffic citations.) I also have represented individuals and corporations in business related matters, and maintain a small group of clients in this area that have, or continue to, retain my services
